This has the potential to be one of the more
random blog posts that I have ever done ..
{consider yourself warned}
Chickens:
We still have chickens
4 to be exact
They are laying daily
{I don't think I have ever eaten so many eggs before in my life}
But they are good {the eggs. that is}
A couple of the chickens have
fallen head over heals in love my
husband {I get it, most days I am not jealous}
But this one loves him the most:
Isabella
I really like the chickens,
In fact .. I think we will be getting
some more in the spring.
{who knew, I would ever like a chicken}
Photography:
Lulu has decided to be like her daddy
and take up photography.
With a little practice,
I think she will do good with it!
Farmer's Market:
We have decided to {try} to eat more
whole fresh foods and to cook at home more.
So we headed to the farmers market.
We got a bunch of veggies
And some apples
If I had my choice I would get only organic
veggies and fruit but unfortunately,
there was only one organic stand there
and he only had a few items.
We did get several things from him and
they were oh, so good!
He even managed to get both of my
children to sample tomatoes and raw sweet potatoes
{I have no pictorial evidence of this .. but trust me, it happened}
They ate both things and liked them {imagine that}
Maybe it was because he called it candy?
After we walked around the farmers market,
we headed to eat at the Farmer's Market Restaurant
The kids really enjoyed all the old farm equipment
and of course this day would not have been
complete with out a picture with the giant metal pig
in overalls, perched atop a block wall outside the restaurant.
We then headed here:
They sell local meat
with an old fashioned small town butcher kind of flare.
Playing:
Saturday was a beautiful day so we could not
resist going outside to play
Hope even enjoyed basking in the sun
Oranges:
We got some fresh oranges from Florida
{Thank-you Meme & PopPops
and Mike & Courtney}
So we decided to juice some of them
and oh my word ... it was sooooo good!
I may never be able to drink bottled juice again!

awesome post! I like the randomnes... its like life! I loved that Farmer's Market. I haven't found one here like that but then again, I haven't looked too hard. But I believe the tradition here is more of the smaller set-ups. I had never been to that meat market before. If you actually did buy the cabbage in your pic, call me for a really good cabbage roll recipe. And more chickens?! Girl...
ReplyDeleteOh, thanks especially for the pic of Hope. Now, you must hug her for me. ;0)
There is nothing like fresh homemade orange juice. Love it!
